What does the resurrection prove?
Short Answer
The resurrection demonstrates that Jesus is who He claimed to be, that His sacrifice for sin was accepted by the Father, and that death does not have the final word. It confirms the gospel and assures believers of their own future bodily resurrection. Christianity stands on this event because it declares Christ's victory over sin, death, and Satan.
Christianity is unusual among world religions in this respect: it stakes everything on a single event in public history.

It proves Jesus was who He said He was
Plenty of people have claimed authority over sin and death.
One of them walked out of a tomb.
And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead…
The resurrection is God's public endorsement of everything Jesus said about Himself.
It proves the payment was accepted
If Jesus had stayed dead, the cross would be a tragedy with no verdict attached.
The resurrection is the verdict.
Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
The debt was not merely paid. It was receipted.
It proves death is not the end of you
The resurrection is not only about Jesus.
Scripture calls Him the firstfruits, which is a farming word. The first sheaf is a promise about the rest of the harvest.
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
Christians do not hope for survival as a disembodied spirit. They expect a body.
It is a claim about history
The resurrection is not offered as a private feeling or a helpful symbol.
It is offered as something that happened, at a time and place, to witnesses who could be questioned.
That means it can be examined honestly rather than only believed quietly.
Evidence will not force anyone. But the claim is the kind that invites investigation rather than avoiding it.
So what does the resurrection prove?
That Jesus told the truth about Himself.
That the Father accepted His sacrifice.
That sin has been paid for.
That death has a limit.
And that the grave is not where your story ends.
