The Nature of Biblical Hope

Romans 5: Hope Through Suffering

"Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Jeremiah 29:11: Plans for a Future and Hope

Biblical hope is a discipline of remembering — actively calling to mind the character of God when circumstances say nothing is left.

The Ultimate Hope: Resurrection

The cornerstone of Christian hope is the resurrection. "If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied" (1 Corinthians 15:19). Revelation 21:4 gives us the ultimate destination: "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain." That is the biblical horizon that hope looks toward.
